In The Aftermath: Mount Nyiragongo

It’s been just more than a month since the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo and there’s still so much unfolding during this time of crisis. Africa New Day Founder, Camille Ntoto offers a message – watch it below to learn about the most recent updates in Goma.

“Some have wondered: Did North-Kivu need a natural disaster to strike them when the province is already under a state of siege? And others have simply concluded that this could mean that God has abandoned the people of Goma,” said Africa New Day Founder Camille Ntoto.

“Well, let me tell you that this is not the case at all. Even when we are cast into the fiery furnace of the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo, the Lord is with us. So no, God has not abandoned us! The proof is that he is using you, our compatriots, not only here in DRC but also in other parts of the world, in the diaspora, who are praying for us. You who are channeling your resources to help us here in Goma. You who are talking about this situation to those who can help. This for us is proof that God has not abandoned us.”

Camille’s words strike a chord – showing us that no matter how great the disaster, there is always hope. We hope you are as inspired as we are by not only Camille, but by the grace of all those in Goma who are coming out of this even stronger. However, support is still needed as communities begin to rebuild. Please visit our Goma relief page to learn more about how you can help.
