Advocacy
Many of our programs help the Congolese learn leadership and how to advocate for themselves, others and their community. Our programs promote gender equality, helping women advocate for themselves in a culture that has historically tolerated violence towards women. We advocate for positive masculinity, teaching men to be leaders in their communities and families. We also advocate for the many displaced people who have fled their homes, helping children enroll in school, providing lawyers as needed, and filling the gaps so they can start a new life. One other area of advocacy Africa New Day provides is through supporting policy. We support the criminalization of rape and sexual violence and advocate for child labor laws, as well as policies between the Congo and other nations regarding mining and the use of the land.
